Having been based in East Sussex for more than 45 years TFC are always keen to help out with worthy causes and, especially so, if this involves engineering projects. So when Martin Clarke, in his role as Hastings Borough Council Local Councillor, was introduced to the Hastings Trolleybus Restoration Group who were looking for some specialist bolts for the restoration of Happy Harold, he was only too pleased to help out.

Martin said The Hastings Trolleybus Restoration Group is a small band of volunteers dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Hastings Trolleybuses which originally were trackless trams running on normal roads on pneumatic tyres and drawing their power from a network of overhead wires suspended above the vehicle. With only four known survivors of the system which closed in 1959 I was keen to support the group who, through their sterling efforts, are giving the local population and visitors the chance to enjoy these unique vehicles albeit in conventional internal combustion form
The non-standard HT bolts TFC supplied were used to secure the front axle to the leaf springs as there was concern that, to refit the original items, this would jeopardise the safety of the vehicle.
